I love to photograph objects. You would think that objects are the most predictable things to photograph, but I often feel that they are a less predictable subject than people are. A certain object may look indistinct for most of the time that you have it, but once in a while something catches your eye and makes you look closer than you usually would. This happened to me today while I was sitting in my room. It was sundown (my favorite time of the day to photograph) and the light was coming in horizontally through my window and hitting my desk. I immediately took out my camera and noticed the reflections in the two glass objects on my desk; the fluff jar, and the paper weight. The way the light was hitting them created interesting shadows and gleams of light that wouldn't normally occur. I never would have noticed these objects on any other day, but today they were different. I don't think I would want to be the kind of photographer that sets up objects in studios with artificial lighting. I love the unpredictability of sunlight and how it effects everything around it.
